Progress is made towards starting a new affordable housing program in the city.
Newly elected city council members Omari Ferguson and Sheila Rossi were sworn in alongside the returning Jon Primuth. The council also elected Janet Braun and Rossi to be the mayor and mayor pro tem for 2025 respectively.
The council decided to push the consideration of an affordable housing in-lieu fee to an unspecified date in February next year due to concerns about a lack of community involvement.
The mayor detailed the city’s accomplishments in the last year and the city’s goals moving forward.
During the City Council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 6, the Council approved a contract for the construction of two pocket parks on Grevelia St. and Berkshire Ave.
Senator Portantino made his last appearance as the 25th District Senator in South Pasadena, celebrating the sale of Caltrans-owned properties.
A new agreement will provide organics collection for all South Pasadena residents and businesses.
South Pasadena voters will decide on a height ordinance in the upcoming election, amid state housing mandates.
