Girls’ tennis claims 18-0 victory over Monrovia

Girls’ tennis destroyed Monrovia in an away league match on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Tigers swept the Wildcats 18-0.

Freshman Felicity Mason played singles one for South Pasadena and won all three of her sets 6-0. Freshman Karissa Oniciuc played singles two and similarly swept all of her sets. Senior Gwen Culbert played singles three and won each 6-0.

Senior Claire Chen and junior Maya Oniciuc played doubles one and won all three of their sets 6-0. Juniors Melani Ramos-Platt and Emi Fong played doubles two and also swept all of their sets.

Junior Helena Gispert and junior Kayla Leung played doubles three. They won their first set 6-0, won their second 6-2, and won the third 6-0. Combined, this led to the Tigers’ final score of 18-0.

South Pasadena will next face the San Marino Titans in a home match on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.
