The SPHS varsity girls’ golf team kicked off its 2016 season with a dominating 231-335 victory against Webb High. South Pasadena travelled out to Marshall Canyon Golf Course in La Verne in their season opener. This first match marks the start of a season filled with high expectations even with the loss of five seniors from last year’s squad.

Co-captain Senior Caitlyn Yamashita led the Tigers, shooting an impressive 41 in her first performance. Junior Bethany Chen came in right behind her with 47, and Co-captain Senior Emily Swanson followed with a 14 over par for a score 50. The team shot a collective 231, which was enough to claim the early season victory.

The Tigers’ next match is this Thursday, September 1 against Polytechnic Pasadena whom they defeated last year by a score of 235-273.
