Girls’ golf earned another win during their preseason, beating La Salle 245-293 at the Brookside Golf Course on Thursday, August 23. Solid performances from veteran and young talents secured the Tigers’ second victory in as many games.

Junior and co-captain Victoria Tskvitichvili put together a quality showing, leading all players with a score of 39, a mere 5 over par. Freshman Maya Turun continued her strong play, with a 42 stroke count once again, and fellow freshman Lauren Calderon finished the course with a score of 46. Sophomores Christine Mao, Katherine Anthony and freshman Cassie Huang rounded out the day’s squad, each tallying a score of 59.

The underclassmen have filled a large role in this preseason, but past captains Tskvitichvili and Lindsey Biggar, the squad selection has not yet been determined. With the addition of five freshmen, the Tigers have a surplus of talent and not enough playing time to go around. Still, after experiencing the first season without a league championship in ten years, the plethora of skilled players is a good problem to have.

South Pasadena will look to extend their winning streak to three games next week on Thursday, August 30, as they take on the Polytechnic Panthers.
