Teachers and ASB student representatives welcomed incoming freshmen and their parents to tour SPHS for the first of the two-part annual Eighth Grade Night on Tuesday, March 22.

The night kicked off with short introductions by SPHS Principal John Eldred, Commissioner General senior Ava Page and ASB advisor Casey Shotwell.

Eighth graders and their accompanied family members were split into different groups, with ASB members guiding them around campus. Each group spent short periods of time at different areas of campus, giving them the opportunity to learn about the classes provided and the layout of the school.

Teachers gave short presentations about what their class entails, and for classes like Tiger and Virtual Business, students led discussions about time-commitments and how to apply. SPHS’s pep squad also performed at the event, giving students an opportunity to learn more about sports and other extracurriculars on campus.

Part 2 of Eighth Grade Night will be held virtually on Tuesday, April 5.
