Boys’ tennis falls to 1-3 with a loss to Temple City

Boys’ tennis lost 12-6 to Temple City at home on Tuesday, April 10. Consequently, the South Pas’ league record is dropped to 1-3, while the team’s overall record rests at 8-5.

The Tigers displayed more prowess in singles, where the team won four of its six games. Although the team struggled to win sets, sophomore Desmond Chan, singles one, won all three of his games, bringing in half of the six total games won by South Pas. Chan reigned supreme by scores of 6-0, 6-1, and 6-2. Singles two, sophomore Ben Pestana, tallied a 6-3 triumph.

Each doubles team struggled to contribute victories. Fortunately, doubles team one, junior Alex Betts and senior Andrew Lee, defeated Temple City in an extremely close match; the set ended in a score of 7-6 for South Pas after a grueling tiebreaker. Sophomores Sigmund Goodstein and Evan Strittmatter, doubles team three, overcame the Rams in one game with a score of 6-3.

The team will play next against La Canada on Friday, April 13 at home.
