The boys’ baseball faced the San Marino Titans in a 15–4 loss on Thursday, April 16. Despite falling short, the Tigers displayed excellent teamwork and focus during the match.

The first inning began with the Tigers pitching and their energy high. Despite their efforts, the Titans managed to score two runs. The Tigers then came back in the bottom of the inning, with sophomore Evan Leyva loading the bases and allowing sophomore Cody Robinson to score. The inning ended with a hit by senior Anthony Ortiz, scoring senior Tate Mendoza, and tying the score 2–2.

The second inning began with a promising hit from the Titans, but the Tigers caught it just in time, preventing one of the Titans from making it to first base. The rest of the inning flew by, with neither team scoring, leaving the score at 2–2.

During the third inning, the Titans managed to regain their lead at 3–2, after scoring a run as sophomore Cody Robinson’s pitches started gravitating towards the center. Shortly after, despite the Tigers’ best attempts, a Titan was able to slide across home base, bringing the score to 4–2.

The fourth started with the Tigers in the outfield and Robinson pitching. A couple minutes into the game, the Titans were able to get a run, giving them a greater lead of 5–2. The Titans were slowly advancing through each base, allowing for another three runs to be achieved, bringing the score to 8–2. The Titans continuously hit the given pitches, and ran strategically to the bases, which increased their score to 9-2.

The fifth, sixth, and seventh innings maintained a similar pattern, much to the Tigers’ dismay. The Titans slowly made their way around the field, batting in runs through powerful hits to the outfield, while Tiger spirits sank. By the bottom of the seventh, South Pasadena managed to score only two runs; the Titans scored six runs. Inevitably, the Tigers lost the game, 15–4.

The Tigers faced the Monrovia Wildcats at Monrovia High School on Tuesday, April 21.
