Badminton coasts to victory against Mayfield

Badminton overpowered Mayfield, emerging victorious in a 14-6 game on Tuesday, Apr. 23. With this win, the Tigers have broken their five game losing streak, elevating their record to 6-6.

Mixed double teams juniors Charles Liu and Erin Wang, and sophomores Kimberly Hsueh and Matthew Tan won all three of their matches in lopsided victories. In addition to these wins, Hsueh and Tan, along with senior Rachel Park, garnered another four points for the Tigers. Freshman Chris Liu and his mixed doubles break point partner, senior Lena Kushigemachi, also dominated their opponents in quick matches.

In girls’ doubles, Kushigemachi, Wang, and sophomores Katherine Li and Elisa Jeon also partook in the team’s victory, contributing two more wins. The boys’ doubles team, which consisted of senior Kevin Xu, sophomores Andrew Cheung and Jonathan Ng, and Chris Liu, were able to all walk away with four evident doubles wins.

The Tigers hope to carry this momentum to their final league game on Friday, Apr. 25, at home.
