The boys varsity wrestling team tackled its first individual tournament of the preseason, competing at Costa Mesa High School on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Junior Devin Peries placed first in the 160 pound weight class, winning multiple matches. Peries went into overtime in the final match and gained victory against his opponent from Mira Mesa.
Sophomore Matthias Sanchez (171) and junior Joseph Hutchinson (220) placed third and fifth, respectively, in their specific weight classes.
The next varsity tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 at Mater Dei High School.
