The SPHS swim team reigned victorious against Mark Keppel on Tuesday, Mar. 10, with the boys outswimming the Aztecs, 103.5-66.5, and the girls, 98-71.

Freshman Alex Johnson won both the 200m individual medley and 500m freestyle, while senior captain Evan Kowal also aided the team in its success, taking first place in the 200m freestyle at the meet. In the 400m free relay, South Pas also came out on top thanks to sophomore William Kan, junior Eddie Lane-Flanagan, senior Hyun Kim, and Johnson.

The meet also proved to be prosperous for the girls team. Freshman Jordan Mullin excelled at the 100m backstroke and junior Maya Villaseñor crushed the 200m free with a 2:27 time. The girls were also strong in the 400m free relay, with Villaseñor, Mullin, sophomore Allysan Tse, and freshman Chloe Auyeng.

“Our team has so much more spirit this year which is super great to see,” senior captain Sarah Zenas said. “I’m excited to keep seeing this excitement and many more victories as our season goes on.”

The team will compete in its league opener at Blair on Tuesday, Mar. 24.
