SPHS counselor Marilyn Garcia has announced her return to SPHS on Friday, Apr. 10, after taking a personal leave of absence in January. Her original replacement, Joyce Ku-Rodriguez, will remain in her position until the end of April.

Garcia announced her personal leave of absence from the SPHS staff, originally saying in a letter she was preparing to retire in June. Garcia served as a teacher, counselor, and administrator for 36 years, working at SPHS for 20 years.

Ku-Rodriguez entered the position of a counselor during Garcia’s leave of absence. Ku-Rodriguez previously served as a counselor in New York City and grew up in the state of California.

Both Garcia and Ku-Rodriguez will be available for social distancing counseling through email and phone calls, with Ku-Rodriguez being accessible until her leave on Apr. 30.
