SPHS paused football training on Friday, Nov. 13 due to a J.V. football athlete testing positive for coronavirus three weeks into season one practice and conditioning.
While all other sports have continued practicing, the athletic department has planned to shut down football training until Tuesday, Nov. 17.
There will be no new regulations to the previous guidelines. Athletic staff and students will continue to follow proper social distancing and enforce wearing face coverings. The athletic department will also continue regularly sanitizing equipment and facilities.
“Our district and site nurse have done an extraordinary job of doing contact tracing and following county health guidelines,” SPHS Athletic Director Anthony Chan said. “We are following our pre-planned protocols that align with the [Los Angeles County Department of Public Health] guidelines and are continuing to take the necessary precautions in moving forward.”
