SPHS Principal Janet Anderson announced her retirement, effective in August, in an email to students and parents on Sunday, May 23.

Anderson’s retirement comes after 41 years in SPUSD and 21 years as SPHS principal, and she expressed her gratitude for the students and parents of SPHS throughout her tenure.

“I have loved my time here working with students, staff, and parents in a variety of capacities,” Anderson said in her retirement email. “I have no regrets about my long commitment to SPUSD. I take pride in the many great things we have accomplished together.”

SPUSD will post the principal position, conduct the application screening, and complete a series of interviews and reference checks in the next four to eight weeks, according to an email from Superintendent Geoff Yantz sent to the community on Monday, May 24.
