Residents of South Pasadena will no longer hear “paper or plastic?” in local grocery stores. Starting Monday, October 6, supermarkets and hardware stores will not provide plastic bags after South Pasadena City Council’s ban on single-use plastic bags begins. In accordance with the statewide law that will ban plastic bags in grocery stores by July 2015, South Pasadena stores will supply paper bags for ten cents each in an effort to reduce consumer waste.
