South Pasadena’s junior varsity cross country teams competed against varsity runners from sixteen other high schools on Saturday from 9:15 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the 47th Kenny Staub/Barnes XC Invitational at Crescenta Valley Park. The boys’ and girls’ JV teams representing South Pasadena’s varsity placed fifth out of the sixteen and fourth out of twelve other high schools, respectively.

“In this meet, we learned that our JV runners are capable of competing with varsity runners at other schools and actually display a successful performance,” junior Ryan Young said.

Junior runner Amador Lagunas also input his reflection on the team’s demonstration of strength and tenacity during the meet:

“Through this invitational, South Pasadena cross country proved to all participants that we are a strong team with individuals who can step up and score the points,” Lagunas said. “We are a team to always watch and look out for, even when our varsity runners aren’t competing.”

JV runners gained valuable experiences by running at a higher level, while varsity runners rested in preparation for the upcoming Clovis Invitational that occurs on next Saturday, October 11th.
