A motorcyclist was killed at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, after colliding with a truck while heading north on Fremont Avenue.
The motorcyclist, identified by the county coroner as 39-year-old Brandon Jay Valdies, was reportedly riding a stolen motorcycle before crashing the vehicle in the accident.
SPPD closed Fremont between Columbia and Buena Vista Street until 1 p.m. following the incident. SPPD officers investigating the scene believe that the motorcyclist hit a curb and was unable to regain control, crashing into a truck heading the same direction.
The incident is currently under investigation by SPPD. This is a developing story. Updates will be posted as more information is released.
