The L.A. County Department of Health confirmed 71 new cases of coronavirus and a new confirmed death in Culver City on Sunday, Mar. 22. The county has also confirmed the third coronavirus case in the South Pasadena area.

According to L.A. County’s Mar. 22 news release, there are a total of 409 confirmed coronaviruscases in L.A. County and five coronavirus-related deaths. Since Mar. 20 — when South Pasadena faced a second confirmed coronavirus case — there have been 132 new confirmed cases of the virus. A total of 84 cases have been hospitalized in response to the growing coronavirus pandemic.

The Public Health department has continued to encourage residents to follow social distancing measures and to follow CDC health guidelines.

“We are deeply sorry for the passing of loved ones and send our prayers to the families and friends of those who have died from COVID-19,” Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said in the news release. “It is critical that everyone practices social distancing, obey the Safer at Home Health Officer Order and assume that anyone can have COVID-19, and anyone could unintentionally infect others.”
