Girls’ soccer won their first match against the San Marino Titans 1-0 on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The first and only goal of the game was scored by freshman Kaia Trainedes in the first half.
Both teams grappled for control of the ball in the first half, persistently passing it from one side of the field to the other as the evenly matched defense and offense on both teams clashed. As a result of South Pasadena’s coordinated passes and teamwork, the Tigers managed to pull ahead with Trainedes’ goal and remained ahead for the rest of the game.
Girls’ soccer stayed on the offensive for much of the second half and gained the edge against the Titans. Despite the score remaining at 1-0 for the second half, the Tigers did not give San Marino the chance to score.
Girls’ soccer will face off against La Cañada on the road at 4 p.m. next Wednesday, Jan. 29.
