Girls golf conquered San Marino High School at their first league game of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Alhambra Golf Course. Led by senior captain Lauren Calderon, they finished with a score of 208-227, paving the way into a promising season.

Calderon led with a score of 37 strokes, and freshman Lana Yamagata made 39 strokes. Freshman Sophia Gwin scored 42 and senior Audrey Biggar shot a 44. Senior Cassy Huang completed the course in 46 strokes and junior team captain Kyra Nielsen followed with 49 shots.

“I think our biggest competitor will be [Temple City] this upcoming Thursday, [Sept. 16]  in which today was [good] experience for that game,” Calderon said. “Overall, I’m pretty sure everyone was happy we won and we know what we should be focusing on in order to prepare for the next match.”

The Tigers are preparing to challenge Temple City on Thursday, Sept. 16 in Alhambra.
