The varsity girls’ golf team once again came out victorious against Gabrielino High School 201-217 this Tuesday, September 20, avenging last year’s lone loss. The girls were home at Almansor Golf Course and extended their overall record to 7-0.

Senior Caitlyn Yamashita, junior Bethany Chen, and freshman Victoria Tsyviti each led the Tigers with a lean 37 strokes. Senior co-captain Emily Swanson and junior Nicole Srisutham shot 44 and 46, respectively. Senior Clara Wong was close behind with 47 strokes.

This match satisfied the newfound rivalry with Gabrielino, to whom the Tigers lost their only game last year. Yet even in the heat of the highly anticipated match, the girls managed to stay calm and stay focused.

“I wouldn’t call it pressure. We just stayed focused and played our best.” Yamashita said.

The Tigers’ next match is Thursday, September 22 at Azusa Greens Country Club against Azusa High School.
