Cross country shines at annual Woodbridge Invitational Meet

The 43rd Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic was held from Friday, Sept. 20 to Saturday, Sept. 21 at Orange County Great Park, where over 400 schools from around the nation competed. South Pasadena’s varsity cross country teams competed in the three miles Sweepstakes girls and three mile Rated varsity boys. 

From the girls’ team, senior Abigail Errington placed 12th in her event with a time of 16:17. Senior Saidbh Byrne placed 103rd and ran the course with a time of 17:49. Senior Sofia Humphrey followed in 112th and clocked in at 17:54. Senior Maya Lee placed 159th with a time of 18:27, and senior Amelie Geoffron placed 162nd with a time of 18:29.

From the varsity boys’ team, senior Adam Ruiz placed 75th with a time of 15:13. Sophomore Michael Scarince placed 86th with a time of 15:20. Junior Dylan Shugg finished in 118th with a time of 15:31, and junior Kai Tilley followed in 142nd, clocking in at 15:42.

The senior boys’ team placed first in the three miles Gold, with senior Rocket McDonald placing first in the event with a time of 16:00. Senior Jake Lau placed in sixth with a time of 16:28, and senior Nicholas Yeh followed in 12th with a time of 16:42.

The Tigers are looking forward to the 45th Annual Asics Clovis Invitational on Friday, Oct. 11 at Woodward Park.
