Boys’ volleyball sweeps Gabrielino at home

The Tigers defeated the Gabrielino Eagles in three straight sets at home on Tuesday night. South Pas won the first set 25-19, the second set 25-17, and the third set 25-20.

Right from the beginning of the first set, the Tigers displayed their superiority over the Eagles. Junior Dylan Schreibfeder blocked the Eagles numerous times, gaining many of the points for South Pas. In addition, with perfect assists by junior setter Tyler Lieu, junior Scott Ishikawa made several kills during the first set. The Tigers ended the set with a win of 25-19.

During the second set, the Tigers were able to capitalize on the Eagles’ mistakes. Senior Evan Chee managed to get over the Eagles’ mediocre blocks and landed several spikes. Senior Kai Jones also had a few good hits which helped the Tigers win the set 25-17.

The third and final set was a more of a challenge for the Tigers. After a few bad passes, the Tigers got back up on their feet and outplayed the Eagles. Sophomore Colin Sheng stepped up to play libero and served an ace. Senior and usual libero Addison Hsiao took on the role of outside hitter, and had multiple kills and tips. The Tigers won the set 25-20, taking the whole game.
