The boys’ tennis team suffered a disappointing loss against San Marino High School on Wednesday, March 25. While the team tried their best to match the Titans, they faced defeat in a 0-18 loss, putting their league record at 1-1 and overall record at 3-2.

The Tigers’ lineup for singles had junior captain Sagar Raju at number one, sophomore Jesse Chen at number two, and senior captain Lenn Kushigemachi at number three, replicating their singles lineup from their game against Monrovia. Sophomore Anthony Chen subbed in as number one for one set.

The Tigers also used their Monrovia lineup for doubles. Junior captain Casey Corvino and freshman Nick Corvino played number one, sophomores Jason Cai and Kevin Huang played number two, and senior Bruno Cavalier and junior Ali Nazari played number three. Sophomores Hoyt Gong and Kendrick Shen subbed in for number two for a set. All members of the team were able to play today.

“Even though we lost today to San Marino, we gave it our all, and that’s what really counts,” Chen said. “San Marino is a tough opponent and a good team, but tomorrow, I expect us to come back from this defeat and play the hardest we can against La Cañada with the mentality that we are going to win.”
