Boys golf continued its meteoric rise, dominating Walnut, 183-224, on Thursday, Mar. 5. The blowout was another vast improvement from last year’s 214-218 narrow win and a positive indicator that the new underclassmen leadership is the change the team needed to propel itself to victory.

Junior Justin Toshima broke par with a stroke count of 34. Freshman Ian Jin finished the course with a 36. Sophomores Andrew Kowal and Ark Chang were right on his heels, both shooting a 37. Fellow sophomores Hayden Biggar and Eric Hong shot a 39 and 43, respectively.

“Overall, our team played very well. Although this was the toughest match so far, Walnut ate our dust, as well as Pasadena Poly. Although the season only started this week, our whole team feels confident about our performance heading on to the next week,” Jin said. “It really doesn’t matter about winning or losing. Our team will just try our best to be the champions.”

The Tigers hope to claim another victory from Walnut on Tuesday, Mar. 10.
