The boys’ varsity golf team concluded its season at the Rio Hondo Preliminaries not able to meet the 80 stroke cutoff on Tuesday, May 3 at the Marshall Canyon at La Verne. The Tigers finished their season with an overall record of 2-10 and league record 1-7.

A total of fifthteen Rio Hondo golfers, selected based on their season averages, participated in the 18 hole Preliminary match. In this match, the individuals had to finish with a score of 80 or less in order to advance to the next round. Juniors Andrew Son and Matthew Wright finished the course with scores of 95 and 91, respectively. Unfortunately, these scores were not enough to qualify for the next round.

“It was rough this year since we only won two games. However, this season really shows the kind of potential we have as a team,” Son said. “Sadly, we didn’t make Team CIF, but we hope to qualify next year. I had a good time and we all know we need a lot of practice if we want to be competitive.”
