The South Pasadena High School varsity badminton team lost on the road to the Alhambra Moors in a close matchup on Tuesday, March 15, by a score of 11-10. The team’s lack of success against Alhambra continues, as the Moors have now beaten them three straight times, dating back to last season. However, the Tigers showed significant signs of improvements in Tuesday’s match.

“I feel the team overall did really well,” junior Michael Wu said. “We didn’t score as many points against [Alhambra] last year, and I believe that in our next meet, we will beat them.”

The Tigers were very successful in singles matches, sweeping Boys’ Singles and also winning Girls Singles’. One of the highlights of the match was senior Jennifer Kang’s strong singles victory. However, the Moors swept Girls’ Doubles and were victorious in both Mixed Doubles and Boys’ Doubles, and Alhambra managed to escaped with a tight win.

With the loss, the Tigers’ record stands at 1-1. The team’s next game will take place on Friday, March 18, away versus San Gabriel High School. The match will be held at Alhambra High School.
