Badminton continues hot play with win over Mark Keppel

Badminton followed up its decisive victory over Mayfield last week with a 14-7 win Monday, March 18, against Mark Keppel High School. With this game under the team’s belt, the Tiger’s league record now sits at 4-0.

The mixed doubles breakpoint team of senior Steven Wu and junior Jamilah Hah kicked off the game with two successive set wins in their first match against the Aztecs. Mixed doubles teams juniors Charles Liu and Emily Choi, and junior Joan Choi and sophomore Jonathan Ng, added another four wins through their strategic combinations of smashes, clears, and nets. The four players overpowered their opponents in their singles matches as well, elevating the Tigers’ score by another four points.

Girls doubles team Hah and sophomore Kimberly Hsueh swiftly defeated their opponents, as the Aztec were unable to counter the duo’s powerful hits. Seniors Wu and Kevin Xu, sophomore Andrew Cheung, and freshman Chris Liu all contributed to two more Tiger wins through their boys’ doubles matches.

The badminton team will face off against Arcadia, one of its league’s toughest opponents, this Friday, March 22.
