The first set was riddled with ties and featured long rallies and good saves from both teams. South Pasadena took the first set 25-23. Senior opposite hitter Senya Dorny led with strong attacks.


South Pasadena maintained a solid lead throughout the second set, and San Marino all but crumbled once South Pasadena passed the 15-point mark. The Tigers took the second set 25-17. Junior opposite hitter Evan Taylor played numerous well-timed kills.

The Tigers lost their footing in the third set, during which the difference between scores was never more than a few points. Netted serves and out-of-bounds attacks allowed the Titans to take the set with a narrow 26-24.

South Pasadena took an early five-point lead in the fourth and final set, 7-2, and grew their advantage to 16-6 with powerful attacks and a strong defense. A final ace from junior libero Ella Garner ended the set 25-13 in South Pasadena’s favor. The Tigers won the match 3-1.
South Pasadena will next play Blair at home on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
