The 2016 Winter Formal dance site was announced at the annual SPHS winter assembly held on Friday, December 18 in the auditorium. Along with the site reveal, the assembly also featured the three winter formal video contest winners and multiple musical performances.
The event kicked off with a showing of the third place winner for video contest, followed by a performance from senior Alex Nakagawa and junior Cindy Tsai, who sang a mashup of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One”. Shortly after their performance, Junior Chira Løvvik took the stage and delivered a powerful rendition of an original piano composition. Later in the assembly, students watched the final two winter formal contest videos, and enjoyed performances from the Dance 1 and 2 classes and the jazz band. To conclude the event, an ASB produced video announced Yamashiro Hollywood as the site of the 2016 Winter Formal dance.
The date of Winter Formal Dance is Saturday, February 6, 2016. Tickets will go on sale starting Monday, January 11. Prices are to be determined.
