The boys’ varsity tennis team fell to Poly High School at home on Wednesday, March 16 by a score of 13-5. The team now has a 5-1 record after falling to the undefeated Poly squad.

The boys had trouble overcoming a strong Poly players in both singles and doubles play. In singles play, only sophomores Simon Stans and Nick Corvino were able to win games. Corvino beat the third singles player 6-3 and Stans would do exactly the same in the next round. The team lost the all of its other games by three or more sets.

The first doubles team were the only doubles players to find success as they won all three of their matches. Seniors Sagar Raju and Casey Corvino were victorious by scores of 6-4, 6-3, and 6-1. South Pas was unable to win any other games besides the ones won by the senior duo.

“This was a major wake up call for the team,” junior Anthony Chen said, “However, we are still confident that we will find success in our many important league games.”

The team will try to rebound from this loss when they face off against Temple City at home on Friday, March 18.
