The softball team finished the 2014-2015 season with a 9-2 loss at Temple City on Thursday, May 7. The Tigers were defeated in all three games of the series and end their season with a record of 2-10 in the Rio Hondo League and 6-11 overall.
South Pas struck the board first with the help of an RBI double from freshman Sophie Reynold to score senior Cassie Baca for a 1-0 lead over the Rams in the top of the first. Temple City responded quickly with two runs in the bottom of the second off a costly error in right field, giving the Rams a 2-1 lead. The Tigers snuck in their last run of the game in the top of the fourth as sophomore Adrianna Ramirez got caught in a pickle between second and third, enabling freshman Victoria Venardi to run home.
The Rams heated up offensively in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs with the help of an RBI double and an error by the Tigers’ first baseman. Temple City added on to its 6-2 lead in the sixth with a suicide squeeze, RBI single, and diversionary pickle to finish the game 9-2.
“It was an interesting season with many ups and many downs,” Baca said. “I wish [the rest of the team] the best of luck in the following years.”
