After transitioning from the Montview League to Rio Hondo League last season, the girls’ golf team fell short in obtaining the RHL championship. However, this year, the Tigers are determined to get back on track and establish league dominance.

Having only lost one senior, the girl’s golf team is still a formidable threat to its opponents. The Tigers will welcome back the reigning RHL MVP Lauren Calderon and third place winner, senior Victoria Tskvitichvili. Other players, including sophomore Maya Turan, who averaged a stroke count of 44, sophomore Cassy Huang, and junior Katherine Anthony, will return with a strong determination to win. Senior captains Tskvitichvili and Lindsey Biggar, will lead the experienced team, hoping to overpower their opponents.

“Last season was very fun, we had a lot of wins and some losses with Temple City and San Marino, for example,” Tskvitichvili said. “As a team I think we can improve on not taking defeats too seriously and to just focus on the next game and improving. For this upcoming season our goal is to win more games and to just have fun and enjoy the game of golf.”

The team will face La Salle at the Almansor Golf Course on Tuesday, Aug. 27 to kick off the new season.
