The girls’ varsity tennis team concluded a solid season with a loss in the first round of CIF to Dos Pueblos High School by a score of 7-11. The game took place on Tuesday, November 3 at Dos Pueblos. The doubles teams played well in their matches, continuing their strength from the season.

The Tigers ended with a 4-4 record in Rio Hondo League play and 10-4-1 overall. The team had many highlights this season such as a 6-0-1 preseason and a narrow victory over Temple City in tie breakers. These were just two of the many memorable moments that the team had. The girls were exceptional throughout, especially since they had no seniors and relied mostly on talent over experience.

The team bonded well throughout the season, always having a positive attitude going into the games and encouraging struggling teammates. This was especially apparent in doubles matches as cooperation was essential for success.

“The team proved that with hard work, we could have a strong season,’’ team captain sophomore Molly Round. “We will work even harder to establish our position as strong contenders for league championships and to advance further into CIF
next season.”

No players will be lost to graduation in the spring, and the team will undoubtedly carry over the experience gained into future seasons and improve upon a promising year.
