The SPHS girls golf team dominated San Marino in their first match of the season on Thursday, Apr. 15 at Brookside Golf Course. The match marked an important milestone: the team securing a victory against San Marino for the first time in three years.

Junior Lauren Calderon led with a 34, the lowest score out of all the match participants. Junior Maya Turun followed with a 49. Senior Katherine Anthony, freshman Maggie Hunter, and junior Cassy Huang trailed behind with a 51, 52, and a 56, respectively. This was an immense victory for the girls golf team, who exuded perseverance and skill throughout the match.

“Being able to be out there with the girls for the first match of the season was so awesome! Our energy was so high despite setbacks in our scores and I definitely felt the happiness and excitement that we’ve been missing in the past year,” Anthony said. “It felt so good to beat San Marino for the first time in three years!”

The Tigers are gearing up to continue their winning streak up against Gabrielino High School at their next match on Thursday, Apr. 22 at Alhambra Golf Course.
