The girls’ varsity golf team completed its 2015-2016 season last week with only a single loss in its overall record. The Tigers began its first round of league Preliminaries on Tuesday, October 20 at the Marshall Canyon golf course with the rest of the 29 individuals from each Montview league team. All of the girls performed exceptionally well with five of the six golfers advancing to the second round.

Tuesday’s cutoff to qualify for the next round was a score of 53. South Pas brought a total of six golfers to the course. The following girls qualified: Co-captain junior Caitlyn Yamashita, 40, sophomore Bethany Chen, 41, junior Emily Swanson, 47, sophomore Nicole Srisutham, 48, and junior Clara Wong, 52.  Co-captain senior Christine Abbott stays positive and looks forward to see her team compete in Individual CIF.

“I’m really proud of the way that they’ve performed over the past month and I’m glad to see them do so well as individuals too,” Abbott said.

The Tiger’s golfers who qualified will play tomorrow at the Marshall Canyon golf course for the second round of Preliminaries on Wednesday, October 21.

“I think I did well considering how tough of a course Marshall canyon is. There’s definitely room for improvement, but our team will take it one step at a time and hopefully come up on the right side,” Swanson said. “In order to prepare for tomorrow’s competition, we have to get a good night’s rest and stay hydrated.”
