Boys tennis takes La Canada in league match

Boys tennis claimed a victory of 10-8 against La Canada on Friday, April 19. The match took place on SPHS’s home courts.

Sophomore Aidan Liu played singles one, crushing two out of three of La Canada’s singles players. Liu won his first two sets 6-2 and 6-0 and lost his last set 1-6.

SPHS’s second singles player, sophomore Lucas Cornforth, also won two of his three sets. Cornforth lost the last set 1-6, but won the first two 6-2 and 6-1.

Junior Emilio Lois continued the trend, winning two out of three. Lois won the first two sets 7-5 and 6-4; however, his last set ended in defeat with a score of 0-6.

Team captains senior Christopher Wong and junior Zachary Lee played doubles one. They swept the first two of their sets, winning with scores of 6-4 and 6-2 respectively, and lost their last set 4-6.

Juniors Emett Mendel and Sebastian Thompson played doubles two, also taking two of their three sets. Mendel and Thompson won 7-5 twice and then lost 1-6.

Juniors Jean-Luc Andre and Max Slattery faced defeat in doubles three. They lost their three sets 1-6, 4-6, and 2-6.

Boys tennis will go up against Monrovia at their home conference game at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 22.
