Boys golf dominated Polytechnic 189-234 in their first game of the season on Tuesday, Mar. 3. The Tigers displayed their talented group of underclassmen and with this blowout victory, they hope that the young core will propel them into a new era of success.
Sophomore Andrew Kowal led the way, shooting under par with a 35. Freshman Ian Jin wasn’t far behind and shot an impressive 36 as junior Justin Toshima kept their score low with a 37. Sophomores Hayden Biggar, Ark Chang, and Eric Hong followed with a 40, 41, and 43, respectively.
“It was our first match this season and we played against Poly. Personally, I didn’t play well but I chipped in on the sixth. Our team did decently and Poly was an easy win for us.” Chang said.
The team has already improved upon last season, where they only beat Poly by 26 strokes, and will hope to continue this momentum against Walnut on Thursday, Mar. 4; South Pas barely defeated them in last year’s meeting, scraping by, 212-214.
