The South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce presented the annual Holiday Tree Lighting at the Farmers’ Market on Thursday, December 3. The event lasted from 4:00-7:00 p.m., and was filled with holiday-themed performances.

The festivities kicked off with a variety of musical performances by young musicians from the South Pasadena Music Center and Conservatory, the Los Angeles Children’s Choir, and the South Pasadena Community Children’s Choir. The SPHS Marching Band also joined the event and performed various holiday-themed songs.

“We did really well,” junior Elliott Lee said, “I saw that the band and the crowd seemed very enthusiastic about our performance.”

After the musical entertainment came the climax of the event. South Pasadena Mayor Robert Joe spoke a few words before counting down from five and lighting the tree.

“May your Christmas and holidays sparkle with moments of love, laughter, and goodwill. During this miraculous time, may you experience the wonders of love and true enjoyment,” Joe said.
