South Pasadena Little League Participates in All-Star Tournament

Every summer, various South Pasadena Little League teams compete in the annual District 18 All-Star Baseball Tournament. Here’s how the teams fared in their season openers:

The 13-14 year-old team beat the Los Angeles All-Stars on Saturday night by a score of 10-5. Eleven hits and solid relief pitching led South Pas to a swift victory. South Pasadena will take on the El Monte All-Stars on Tuesday, June 27, hoping to build off their strong win.

South Pas came up short in the 12 year-old division, losing 6-4 to the East Alhambra All-Star team. A four run first inning was not enough for South Pasadena, as timely Alhambra home runs dashed away all chances of contention for the Tigers. South Pas’ All-Stars hope to keep their championship aspirations alive in an elimination game on the Monday, June 26.

The 11 year-old All-Stars beat Temple City handily, with a 13-1 win on Saturday evening. South Pas’ potent offense complemented their shut down pitching, allowing them to easily dispatch their opposition. They will hope to continue their run against El Monte on Tuesday, June 27.

Competing In the afternoon, the 9-10 year old All-Stars suffered a 8-9 loss to the Alhambra American All Star team. After falling short in the first round, South Pas will look for a win in an elimination game on Wednesday the 28th.

Meanwhile in the 7-8 year old division, South Pas gave their best effort in a 2-12 loss to a strong El Monte National team. South Pas had no answer to El Monte National’s pitching staff, but will hope to bounce back with a win on Monday the 26th against South El Monte.
