The girls golf team competed in the first Rio Hondo League preliminary round on Tuesday, Oct. 22. On the extended 18 hole course, three athletes advanced to the next preliminary round.

Sophomore Lauren Calderon set a personal best, boasting a score of 63. Senior Victoria Tskvitichvili also had a stellar performance shooting 73 strokes. Sophomore Maya Turun barely finished inside the 81 stroke cutoff, scoring 80.

Sophomore Audrey Biggar (91), junior Katherine Anthony (96), and sophomore Cassy Huang (97) did not make the cutoff and will not participate in the next round.

“Even though today only three of us advanced, I think we all did a really great job especially for some of the girls who haven’t played 18 holes in a long time,” Calderon said. “Hopefully at least the three of us will be able to continue our stretch and get as far as we can through CIF.”

The three Tigers will play the second round of preliminaries tomorrow on Wednesday, Oct. 23, which determines individuals who will move on to CIF regionals.
