The California Interscholastic Foundation (CIF) canceled all 12 CIF State basketball championship games due to coronavirus concerns in a press release Thursday, Mar. 12. CIF officials will not name co-champions and will leave the 2020 title positions empty.

With the rest of winter tournaments already complete, basketball is the lone sport to have its CIF season cut short. CIF Commissioners will gather on Tuesday, Mar. 17, to discuss coronavirus’ possible implications on the upcoming spring season. The Rio Hondo League has not released any information about what future preventative measures will be taken within the league.

In South Pas, boys varsity volleyball canceled two home games, including today’s clash with St. Francis and the Wednesday, Mar. 25, match against San Gabriel Academy. Today, the St. Francis athletic department notified South Pas that it had cancelled all sports matches through Saturday, Mar. 28.

Due to recent rainfall, today’s boys tennis and boys golf matches have been cancelled as well.

This is a developing story. Updates will be posted as more information is released.
