The boys’ tennis team fell short in its preseason debut, losing 13-5 to the Crescenta Valley Falcons on Friday, Feb. 22.
Juniors Desmond Chan and Ben Pestana, singles one and two respectively, accounted for all of the Tigers’ wins. Chan dominated his opponents, winning his matches 6-2, 6-3, and 6-1. Pestana emerged victorious in two of his three matches.
None of the doubles were able to gain a victory. Doubles team one, senior James Deckle and junior Sigmund Goodstein, came close in its second match, but ultimately fell 6-4.
The Tigers look to earn their first win against Rosemead on Monday, Feb. 25. South Pasadena defeated the Panthers 12-8 in last year’s matchup.
