Sophomore Sydney Morrow competed at Division IV Cross Country State Championships in Fresno Saturday, Nov. 30. She was the only South Pasadena runner to individually qualify for this race.

Morrow placed 27th with a time of 18:48.4. She finished the first mile in a blistering 5:30 and held the eighth place position by the end of the second. Fatigued, Morrow dropped 19 spots in the final mile.

“Overall, I have two feelings: one of accomplishment and one of sadness. Last year, I didn’t even make it to the State race because I was sick, so getting here is a big accomplishment,” Morrow said. “Although, I expected to do a lot better and am therefore disappointed.”
