The South Pasadena High School varsity girls golf team played in the Montview League finals on Thursday, October 23, with three out of the four South Pasadena qualifiers advancing to CIF. Senior captains Katie Rosenberg and Amy Chong, as well as sophomores Emily Swanson and Caitlyn Yamashita played 18 holes, adding their scores they earned today with the scores they earned on Tuesday. Rosenberg, Chong and Yamashita were all able to shoot low enough to take three out of the four Montview League CIF representative spots.
Rosenberg won her fourth consecutive league MVP award this year, finishing with a 119 over both days. Yamashita finished right behind Rosenberg, shooting a 125. Chong sealed of South Pasadena’s qualifiers with a score of 131.Unfortunately, Swanson just missed shy of the mark and did not advance.
“I didn’t play as well as I could have, but overall I had a decent round,” Rosenberg said. “It was bittersweet because it was my last high school league game and maybe the last time I will ever play with the friends I’ve made over the last four years.”
Rosenberg, Chong, and Yamashita will leave on Monday, October 27 to the River Ridge in Oxnard for the first round of CIF.
