On Tuesday, Oct. 21, girls’ tennis faced the Temple City Rams. During the first round, senior Cayna Ghaly powered through, winning 6-0. Similarly, sophomores Felicity Mason and Elise Chan won their matches, with Mason winning 6-0 and Chan winning 6-2.
Temple City’s defensive tactic of stacking doubles, or pairing more powerful players together in an attempt to win in the doubles category, proved to be successful. South Pasadena sisters sophomore Maya Onicuc and senior Karissa Onicuc lost their first round 6-3. Seniors Emi Fong and Kayla Leung lost as well, with a final score of 6-1. Seniors Leen Yassine and Mailani Ramos-Platt concluded their first match with a winning score of 7-5.
Despite the Rams’ efforts and a tense second round, the Tigers pulled through, winning with an overall score of 14-4 in an unforgettable Senior Night match. The team congratulated their seniors Maya Onicuc, Helena Gispert, Ramos-Platt, Yassine, Ghaly, Fong, Chen, and KaylaLeung after the match.
