The boys’ varsity volleyball team showcased a dominant performance during the San Gabriel Volleyball Tournament held at San Gabriel High School from Friday, March 20 to Saturday, March 21, placing first with a 7-0 record.

The Tigers played placement matches on Friday against Los Altos, San Gabriel and Whittier, coming out with a 3-0 record to place in the Gold Division, the tournament’s highest section. On Saturday, the boys played against other elite squads that received the Gold Division honor: La Salle, Temple City, Crescenta Valley, and Canyon. South Pas proved to be the dominant team in the tournament, beating all four teams on a best two out of three set series during the Gold Division Playoffs. The Tigers finished the tournament with a perfect 7-0 record.

“Staying positive even when things were getting tight or weren’t going our way was key to our success throughout the tournament,” junior Matthew Ng said. “Positivity gave us more energy to feed off from and kept us going through the tournament.”

The Tigers hope to carry this momentum from their exceptional performance throughout the San Gabriel Volleyball Tournament into their league opener on the road against La Cañada on Thursday, March 26. South Pas is looking to start their journey to a fourth consecutive Rio Hondo League crown with a win over the Spartans.
