Senior Zoe Chen (she/her) is excited to round out her fourth year on Tiger as Editor-in-Chief. Zoe has not had a pet since her preschool goldfish died, mere hours after it came home from Petco. Zoe has also killed a low-maintenance succulent in three days. Given her track record, she is slightly freaked out, but excited nonetheless, that she has been tasked with keeping Tiger alive from the helm.

Senior Claire Mao (she/her) is excited to spend her fourth and final year of high school as Tiger’s Online Managing Editor. Claire looks forward to the chaotic senior year experience, meeting new staff, watching C-dramas, and having a great time.

Ruby Foudy (she/her) is ready to face the perils of junior year and, more importantly, be the Print Managing Editor her third year of Tiger. She looks forward to cooking up center spreads, not hitting the curb every day when she parks, and patiently awaiting the release of The Batman: Part II (Feb. 18, 2028, mark your calendars).

Senior Rafa Estolano-Sridharan (he/him) is excited for his third and final year on Tiger, returning as Opinion Editor. He is looking forward to working with Tiger’s talented staff — new and old, perfecting his strawberry matcha recipe (he promises “it’s not performative”), and finishing out this chapter of his life (something he is definitely not terrified about).

Sophomore Uma Chakraborty (she/her) is super excited to return to her second year of Tiger as Feature Editor. When she isn’t crashing out over homework, you can usually find her rock climbing, dancing, or attempting to bake (she will get yelled at later by her mom for not cleaning up). She can’t wait to reconnect with friends from last year and for another year of writing.

Junior Gavin Bartolome (he/him) is geared to take on his third year on Tiger, excitingly returning as Sports Editor. When he hasn’t sunken into a new, arbitrary hobby, you can probably find him spacing out or listening to his hopelessly chaotic playlist. He cannot wait to see new and old faces as he finally starts to socialize again, and also prepare for his trillionth Spider-Man arc. It’s a brand new day.

Junior Paisley Park (she/her) is very excited to return for her second year on Tiger as a Co-Design Editor. When she’s not stressing over grades, finding new matcha places in LA, or hanging out with her friends, you can find her doomscrolling architecture reels or trying to get her license. She looks forward to working with the Tiger staff this year.

Entering her third epic year on Tiger, junior Lanah Kim (she/her) is excited to return once more as a Co-Design Editor and see all the amazing talent of the newspaper staff. When she isn’t rewatching Pacific Rim for the 20th time (too bad there definitely isn’t a sequel), you can find her playing various songs on her bass and guitar, doomscrolling the NOAA satellite imagery page, or listening to her fair share of math rock.

Sophomore Khloe Yuen (she/her) is eager to return for her second year on Tiger, this time as a Copy Editor. When she isn’t on the hunt for the Needoh Nice Cube, you can find her ranting about her bad shots at the golf course or studying at boba cafes (she says she’s studying, but she’s really just hanging out with her friends).

Sophomore Julia Gildersleeve (she/her) is thrilled to return to Tiger for her second year, now as a Copy Editor. When she’s not smashing volleyballs and shuttlecocks, walking around town, or snacking on freeze-dried raspberries, you can find her studying for math, even on the weekend.

Ella Apisakkul can’t wait to join Tiger for freshman year as a staff writer. When not dreaming about having a black belt in martial arts despite still not being able to do a back kick, Ella is probably devouring either a salmon poke bowl, another episode of The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., or the crushing disappointment of finding a plot hole in a self-authored story.

Freshman Maya Bennett (she/her) is excited to join Tiger as a staff writer. When she’s not submerging herself into freezing pools or endlessly practicing her piano over and over again, you can find her hanging out with her friends. She can’t wait to meet new people in high school.

Sophomore Maxwell Gardoce (he/him) is ecstatic and thrilled to join Tiger this year as a staff writer. As he is, or is not, procrastinating random assignments and tasks — possibly like this staff bio itself — you’ll find him strolling around the city with his two charming pugs.

Senior Leighton Kwok (she/her) is ecstatic to be returning to Tiger as a writer for her final year at SPHS. When she’s not clacking at her computer and drinking her chai latte (woah, the switch, she’s maturing), you can find her at a concert, reading a book, pretending to play Minecraft, or yapping about her newest internet hyperfixation. She is more ready than ever to excite readers with her final high school articles and looks forward to reuniting with her found family from last year, while also meeting her new wonderful co-workers.

Hung Gwan Lau (he/him), a junior in intellect and class, is shivering in his boots at the thought of writing in Tiger and Lang in the same year; nonetheless, he is up for the challenge. When he’s not burying himself into endless rabbit holes of the Spotify algorithm, you can find him either at his second home (friend), or playing volleyball somewhere in California. Excitement paired with angst is definitely giving him an adrenaline boost to start his time writing with an effect akin to Red Bull.

Sophomore Max Messineo (she/her) is eager to return to Tiger Newspaper as a staff writer. When she isn’t writing for Tiger and stressing over her grades, she is listening to music, watching horror movies, and hanging out with her sister.

Kamillah Morales (she/her) is so excited for the journey that is high school as she enters her freshman year at SPHS. She promises to do her best as a page designer and staff writer. When she is not buying more books than her shelf can hold, she’s cursing at a slow-burn romance anime. Despite not being able to stick with only one hobby, writing and becoming an author has always been a star that shone brighter than any other star in her galaxy. Being a part of Tiger Newspaper brings her so much joy.

Sophomore Ellie Song (she/her) is so excited to return to Tiger Newspaper as a staff writer. When she isn’t listening to overly niche music, you can find her running all over town with her friends and obsessing over the Mamma Mia movie. She can’t wait for another year of writing for Tiger, from informing our student body of important events to writing sports beats (you know I love them, Gavin).

Senior Sam Allen (he/him) is ecstatic to spend his final year in high school working for Tiger as a staff photographer. Since the day he began his photography journey, he has had the undying dream to someday outshine his greatest nemesis, Photo Editor Mac Shropshire.

Sophomore Maximo Benitez (he/him) is excited to express creativity through his photos and what he captures through his lens of school spirit, but also journalism. His huge interest in music and movies makes him very happy to be a part of Tiger Newspaper. As he has watched the movie Zodiac (2007) many times, he feels a connection with the writer and reporter Paul Avery.

Freshman Philip Kwak (he/him) is super thrilled for his new role as a staff photographer for Tiger. Through photography, he hopes to bring to light new stories to our SPHS community. When he’s not camping, you can find him chilling with his pet tortoise Gurgi or his two dogs Rosie and Sam.

Junior Adrian Lopez (he/him) is excited to photograph for Tiger in his first year on staff. Adrian is ready to let his inner Peter Parker out in order to create a legacy for himself. Ever since picking up a camera, Adrian has always been ready to put his body in the ring in order to get any shots necessary. He’s ready to make Tiger for the worse.

Sophomore Theo Thompson (he/him) is very excited to return to Tiger as a photographer and videographer. When he’s not on long training rides or bouldering with friends, Theo can be found listening to music and watching movies.

Sage Chang (she/her), a Tiger Newspaper first-timer, is extremely excited to perform as an illustrator for her senior year. Art has been her lifelong passion ever since she moved here from the Bay Area (mastering a fine arts class at thirteen was simply not going to be enough). When she’s not painting, she’s rating movies on Letterboxd for an occasional three likes, or getting super pressed while playing golf (she loves it, though).

Junior Shyla Drake (she/her) is eager for her first year as a Tiger Newspaper illustrator, and she is very excited to collaborate and work with everyone there. She’s been drawing since childhood and spent two years at art school. When she’s not illustrating, you can find her twirling around at the ice rink, half asleep, praying she doesn’t fall.

Yumin Kim (any) is absolutely thrilled (but also extremely terrified) to spend their junior year as a Tiger illustrator. If you don’t find them compensating on whether or not to finish one of the thousands of W.I.P.s they have abandoned (yikes), Yumin can be found rewatching 9-1-1 for the hundredth time (Season 3 is the best season, fight me), rereading the Unwind Dystology, listening to KMFDM, or playing Papa’s Wingeria.

Helena Millar (she/her) is entering her junior year, as well as experiencing her first year as a Tiger Newspaper staff illustrator. When she’s not listening to Billie Eilish on full volume or procrastinating on schoolwork, you can usually spot her staring at a blank page in her sketchbook or sipping on a grande caramel frappe at Starbucks.

Freshman Harper Rentmeester (she/her) is excited to start high school and her first year as a staff illustrator for Tiger. When she’s not waking up at ungodly hours to watch an F1 race (go George Russell) or spending hours on the field for the marching band/drumline grind, she enjoys drawing, painting, and making baked goods.

Zoie Wong (she/her) can’t wait to settle into her sophomore year alongside the new experience of being on Tiger! Aside from illustrating for fun, she likes to participate in other crafts, like making cat blankets for the Humane Society. You can find her volunteering there, although she’ll probably just be playing with the dogs instead of actually being helpful. You may even catch her at the kennels with Olivia Rodrigo’s new album blasting through her headphones.

Freshman Caelyn Lewis (she/her) is enthusiastic to be a page designer on Tiger for her first year, work with her friends, Maya and Zoe, and meet new people on the paper. When she’s not stressing about high school and grades, you can find her running on the track for XC, or chilling at home watching Modern Family.

Business and Ads Managers

Freshman Danny Lowstuter (he/him) is very excited to join Tiger this year as a Business and Ads Manager. In his free time, he might be playing drums, football, or video games. He might also be at his favorite restaurant, Chipotle, which is obviously the best in the world. He is looking forward to getting to know more people on Tiger.

Senior Lucinda Ernst (she/her) is excited to return to Tiger for her second year, this time as a Business and Ads Manager. She spends her time in her roles in ASB and Youth and Government, worrying about her college essays, and enjoying overpriced chai lattes (grande, two pumps brown sugar, light ice, thank you very much).
