A classic dessert with an elegant element just arrived in Alhambra.  After one sweet bite, the funnel cake ice cream sandwich which seemed like an average high calorie fair-food quickly transformed into a glorious dream. The ice cream, which came in decadent flavors like blueberry pie, Oreo cookie butter, and vanilla mascarpone with strawberry sorbet, made the dessert deliciously gourmet.  While the refreshing ice cream offers flavor, the fluffy yet crispy texture of the funnel cake adds a crunch to the hybrid dessert.

The funnel cake ice cream sandwich’s exclusivity has received rave reviews in the past two months, and its exclusivity only increases its desire-factor.

When asked about the process and reasoning behind creating innovative desserts, John Park, the founder of dessert shops Ice Que (Alhambra), Quenelle (Burbank and San Marino) and the funnel cake ice cream sandwich said, “To come up with desserts it’s a mixture of what products/fruits are in season, things we like to eat, and using the techniques we’ve learned in the past. The funnel cake sandwich comes from the fact that I always enjoyed eating funnel cake as a kid. I wanted the original flavor of vanilla mascarpone and strawberry sorbet to taste exactly like what I ate growing up, funnel cake with strawberries and whipped cream.”

Ice Que, in Alhambra, delivers the treats for a low price of $6.50. Released only a few months ago, the funnel cake ice cream sandwich has already made positive headlines in the LA Weekly and BuzzFeed. It is only available by request and served exclusively at Ice Que on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m.
