Girls tennis suffered defeat against the San Marino Titans, 14-4, on Tuesday, Oct. 22. This loss drops the Tigers to a 2-4 record in league.
The singles squad battled with the Titans, barely losing 5-4. Singles one and junior captain Carissa Park, successfully swept through her opponents, winning 6-2, 6-2, and 6-1. Freshman Kyra Campbell garnered the only other South Pas singles win, beating San Marino’s singles two, 6-4.
The doubles squad struggled; without senior Teryn Kum and junior Skylar Cornforth, the usual doubles one, the Tigers were unable to win any doubles sets.
“It was definitely an uphill battle because they’re in a higher division and are a very strong team. Regardless, I know we fought really hard and though we came up short, we still played really well,” senior Bella Kan said.
The girls team hopes to bounce back from this loss on Thursday, Oct. 17, against the Monrovia Wildcats.
