Boy’s water polo put their tough loss against Temple City behind them as they defeated Monrovia High School 18-4 Thursday, October 23 at the Tiger Pool.
The lopsided match resulted in senior goalkeeper Will Renken taking a turn on offense, and he rocketed in two goals in the fourth quarter.
Senior Ryan Rodriguez played a stellar game with five goals netted in one quarter, and seven in total. He also led with two assists.
With much help from Rodriguez’s strong arm, the Tigers entered the fourth quarter dominating 13-4, and spent the final minute passing the ball leisurely as time ran out. The Wildcats managed to loft in a few shots, but spent a majority of the game without possession.
“We were really focused today,” sophomore Vaughn Huelsman said. “We came out with a lot of intensity.”
This victory brings South Pasadena’s league record to 4-4. The Tigers play next at La Cañada on Tuesday, October 28.
